Issue #123: Three WOM topics you can try today

Here’s a few simple topics you could try right now to get folks talking about you:

1> Special sale
2> Extraordinary customer service
3> Do something silly

1> Special sale

One of the easiest topics you can use to get people talking about you is a great sale or a special offer. Get some bonus word of mouth by having some fun with your sale, such as a buy-one, get-something-not-normally-for-sale offer, or by having an auction or a unique theme. Although sales won’t keep people talking forever, they can be great for creating a short burst of conversation.

2> Extraordinary customer service

Extraordinary customer service is rare, which makes it worth talking about. Go out of your way to make a customer’s day by giving them a surprise discount, or upgrading their shipping for free, or throwing in something extra. It’s the little, special things you do that people can’t help but tell their friends about.

3> Do something silly

A simple topic you can use to quickly get people buzzing about you is “silly.” There are infinite ways to make people smile, including celebrating an obscure holiday, playing some funky music, or sharing a funny photo of your staff or fans. Most businesses are too serious these days — stand out by having some fun.
