It’s hip to be a startup these days. Everyone’s in love with the idea of up-and-coming businesses people talk about at SXSW and scrappy companies with change-the-world kind of goals.
Domino’s is by no means a startup. But to get in on the conversation, they recognized something important about their customers: A lot of them are groups of people working on something so intensely there’s no time to stop to go out for something to eat — so they order a pizza.
To capitalize on this, Domino’s is offering to be “Pizzavestors” by giving a $500 gift card to some start-ups.

Even though it’s a generous donation, it’s still just a gift card. If they gave away $500 worth of pizzas to anyone else, it wouldn’t be that big of a deal. But because they’re connecting their brand to a popular topic, there’s a lot more people talking about it.
Are people already raving about something that’s connected to your stuff? How can you join the conversation in a remarkable way?
