1> Forget the rules
Jason encourages new bloggers to blaze their own path. With millions of blogs out there, you’ve got to be willing to be different in order to stand out. There are plenty of examples of successful blogs — both corporate and personal — that break the traditional rules.
2> Identify your audience
When launching any new publication, it helps to create a profile of your target reader. Jason suggests building a content strategy that consistently gives this audience little nuggets of information they can get excited about. By defining your readers, you can start to write for someone, which is always a more successful strategy than trying to write for everyone.
3> Skip the technical details
Don’t let the advanced stuff stop you from getting started. First-time bloggers can get overwhelmed by the jargon and technical details associated with blogging to the point where they never get off the ground. Instead, start by focusing on creating great content — you can always add in the advanced tools and techniques as you go.
