Word of Mouth Tip #123: Start something great and ask fans to join you

Declaration of ContributionGive people something worth believing in – something worth joining and following – and you can create amazing conversations.

Sam Parker and the folks at GiveMore.com started something great: They created a “Declaration of Contribution” and sent an email asking their fans to sign the petition.

They described it as a way to remind ourselves to be part of the solution and to make good things happen for others. It was inspiring, fun, and simple. They even added a goofy challenge for everyone: To get more signatures than Kim Kardashian has fans.

And that’s the big idea: Movements don’t have to take on world issues to be meaningful and worth talking about.

Just try something small. If nobody joins – hey, no big deal. Try again.
