Omni Hotels has partnered with Pure Digital to let families borrow a Flip camcorder to record their vacations.
It’s a brilliant bit of word of mouth marketing for both brands: Pure Digital gets their product in the customers’ hands to test out, and Omni Hotels gets an army of excited vacationers equipped with a great tool for documenting all the great stuff about their vacation (and their hotel experience).
To top it off, Omni is also encouraging customers to put their videos online by offering a free trip for four to their Bedford Springs Resort for the best 3-minute video posted to their social networking site.
The Lesson: Putting tools for talking in the hands of your fans makes it easier for conversations about you to take place. If you can get them cameras (doesn’t have to be a fancy one — a cheap disposable one could work just fine), you have the potential to earn a ton of free endorsements on Flickr, Facebook, and the family photo album.
