ModCloth is known for listening to their customers when deciding what clothing and accessories to offer — they call it “democratizing the fashion industry.” But with limited stock of a lot of their stuff, they often sell out of popular products fast.

Other companies just say sorry, but ModCloth turns a potential disappointment into an opportunity to listen to their customers. Every time a customer comes across a sold out ModCloth product, they can vote to get it back. Based on customer feedback, ModCloth often reorders products for their “Back by Demand” category.

No one likes when a store runs out of something they want. But it doesn’t always have to be a bad experience. Show your customers you care about their feedback and you just might earn a fan.
