Video: How GE earns millions in revenue with employees’ social networks

Think about all of the people your employees know: all of the people they could tell about your business. What if those people were graphed out in a network to show who knows whom? What if you could see which employees know your potential customers?

For General Electric, that social graph is mapped out on LinkedIn. And they use it to make introductions, foster relationships, earn trust, and sell millions of dollars worth of industry equipment.

In his presentation at SocialMedia.org’s Member Meeting, GE’s Global Manager of Digital Strategy, Rich Narasaki, shares how they help their employees spread word of mouth and develop trust with potential customers.

Rich says it’s all about:

  • Knowing where your customers are talking
  • Building relationships and trust
  • Patiently listening for your potential customers to reach out
