This is a guest post from WindsorONE’s CEO, Craig Flynn, and Director of Marketing, Brian Bunt. See more posts like this about word of mouth marketing for all types of companies on their blog.
After reading a blog posting by Saul Colt on disruptive marketing, we were inspired to try our own version. The WindsorONE team decided to word-of-mouth-it-up at the 2015 Pacific Coast Builder Conference in San Diego.
The idea was simple: have two members of the team dress up as Hollywood stars and walk the show floor carrying WindsorONE Trim Boards. Once they walked onto the show floor, the “stars” would then be swarmed by other WindsorONE team members dressed as photographers for TMZ. Check out the below video to see the reaction on the show floor.

The total time spent on the show floor was under 30 minutes. The end result was some great exposure with customers both attending and exhibiting at the show! The best part was this event cost us a fraction of what it would cost to exhibit at the show.
What are some ways your company has found to stand out on a budget?
