These days, it’s not that unusual for a store to sell something “artisan,” organic, locally grown, or environmentally friendly. But one ice cream shop in LA that has all of these things is standing out for a different reason: Their ice cream is churned by bicycle.

The Peddler’s Creamery hires cyclists to peddle a stationary bike at a consistent pace to help make the ice cream they sell in small batches (apparently, they have to have a pretty good cadence). It’s not only a part of their passion for making the process more environmentally responsible, but also a great word of mouth topic.
