Creating a repeatable word of mouth message takes keeping it simple — for any company, big or small. The more confusing your brand message looks, the harder it is for your customers to tell people about you. That’s why, at EMC Corporation, they had a problem. With over 100 company Twitter accounts — all with different looks, logos, and brand voices — their message was getting lost in the noise. Even worse, some of those accounts were poorly managed or abandoned and customers were getting lost.
In his presentation at SocialMedia.org’s Brands-Only Summit, EMC Corporation Senior Social Media Manager Thom Lytle explains how his team led a total remodel of all of their Twitter accounts. He shares how they created a more streamlined brand message and created roadblocks for employees before they started a new account without permission.
In his presentation, Jay also shares:
- Why “social sprawl” spreads your message too thin
- How to help guide enthusiastic employees to contribute
- How they mapped out which Twitter accounts to save and which ones to kill
