This is a guest post from Dave Kerpen — CEO of Likeable Local, chairman and former CEO of Likeable Media, and author of “Likeable Business: Why Today’s Consumers Demand More and How Leaders Can Deliver.” See the original post this is adapted from and more like it on his blog.
In this episode of my weekly Watch Me Wednesday series, I discuss why marketers need to shut up and just be valuable. I was once asked during an interview how brands can stand out among all of the different marketing channels and noise.
My advice: stop being part of the noise! Marketing should be used to make consumers’ lives better either by teaching, entertaining, or being useful. Some brands that do an excellent job of providing great value are Ritani and Autism Speaks. Ritani, one of our Likeable clients, inspires women with questions and quotes about love and weddings. Autism Speaks provides helpful information, articles, and support to people affected by autism.
What brands have you seen provide valuable and likeable content?
