When CME Group saw that almost all of their industry’s conferences were looking the same, they created one people would want to talk about: an invitation-only, TED-style event with big-name speakers like Hillary Clinton, Richard Branson, and George W. Bush.
To get more people talking about their Global Financial Leadership Conference, they needed more than a great event — they needed great coverage. In his presentation at SocialMedia.org’s Member Meeting, Evan Peterson, CME Group’s Director of Corporate Marketing, talks how they planned to spread word of mouth with live tweeting, blogging, interviews, and other great content during the event.
He also explains:
- Why their content isn’t about CME Group
- The content planning questions they ask before every conference
- Why one journalist had her phone confiscated by the Secret Service
