Most charity fundraisers aren’t all that exciting. But Pledgeit, a UK-based charity, takes fundraising beyond the 5K and asks you to come up with your own drive. They let you set up a challenge for a friend and pledge that if they complete it, you’ll donate money to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

Some call out their friend to finish that cross-stitch they started years ago, to wax their chest hair, or to wear a rival soccer team’s jersey for a day. Here’s one challenge for a tone-deaf friend to sing karaoke in front of thousands of people:

The big idea: People will talk about it when it’s personal and it means something to them — not when it’s a generic promotion.
