With a little attention to detail, it doesn’t have to be hard (or expensive) to get your customers to talk about even your most boring stuff. For example, Lowe’s did it with a cardboard box.

This box isn’t full of toy airplanes — it’s full of light bulbs. But just by printing cardboard airplane instructions on the side, Lowe’s created an opportunity for people to talk about something most people never even notice. Now, everyone in our office knows we buy light bulbs from Lowe’s.
