The Sandys, Ivans, and Katrinas of this world probably have a bone to pick with the World Meteorological Organization for forever tying their names to devastating events.

With this in mind, activist group 350 Action created a petition to use a new naming system — one that names severe storms after politicians who deny climate change and obstruct climate change policy.

That way, news headlines would read “Seek Shelter from Michelle Bachman” or “The Devastation of Paul Ryan.” And although the petition isn’t really about changing the naming system, it’s still doing its job of raising awareness. By using humor to make a point, 350 Action is getting more people to talk about the issues that are important to them.
