Here’s the thing about getting your employees to spread word of mouth: Sometimes you just have to ask them. Paychex Social Media Program Manager Joe Schaeffer says they did it with a simple question: “What makes you #PaychexProud?” To get them to answer it, though, Joe did a little internal word of mouth marketing of his own.

In his presentation at’s Member Meeting in New York, Joe Schaeffer takes us backwards through a case study on employee advocacy in the last 14 days — starting with the results and explaining the two weeks that lead up to them.

He shares:

  • How to build momentum with healthy competition between departments
  • Why you have to go offline to earn your employees’ attention
  • How to calm fears about employees talking about your company on social media
